Position Summary
The Sustainability Manager assists the Section Head in carrying out tasks assigned to the ESG Strategy & Reporting Section. These include preparing the annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, supporting ESG rating and disclosure efforts, communicating the BEA Group's sustainability efforts to both internal and external stakeholders, and coordinating arrangements for the three tiers of the Group's ESG governance structure.
Responsibilities
Assists the Section Head in working with the Bank's ESG consultants on ESG report-related exercises, e.g. strategy development, goal-setting, materiality assessments, internal/external stakeholder engagement, content review and verification of the ESG Report, etc.
Supports the preparation of presentations, minutes, etc. for ESG governance meetings
Strengthens internal and external ESG communication by contributing to the development of communication and training material for Group staff, engaging with staff members on ESG efforts via various channels and platforms, such as LinkedIn and company intranet
Coordinates Group-wide data collection and development for the annual ESG report, the Sustainability section of the Group's interim and annual reports, related website and company intranet content.
Assists in preparing responses to external requests for ESG-related information about the BEA Group from CDP, MSCI, Sustainalytics, and other rating agencies and indices, as well as submissions by the Bank for sustainability award programmes
Analyses ESG gaps through stakeholder engagement, ESG reporting, and disclosure exercises, address transparency gaps through improved disclosure
Supports the management of sponsorships, memberships, and departmental procurement items
Maintains relationships with internal and external parties including ESG consultants, ESG ratings agency representatives, non-governmental organisations, sustainability practitioners, etc., who may provide insight or advice that would be beneficial to the Bank
Requirements
Degree holder in sustainability, environmental management, business management, or other related discipline
Solid experience in ESG, environmental management, and/or research, covering the following:
a minimum of 4-6 years working experience in a sizable organisation
solid experience in sustainability reporting and familiar with sustainability reporting standards and ESG ratings
proactive, self-motivated, well-organised, adaptive, and capable in managing multiple projects under tight schedules with strong sense of responsibility
strong research and analytical skills with excellent attention to details
a team player with good interpersonal and communications skills
proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese word-processing
excellent spoken and written English and Chinese including Cantonese and Mandarin
