Financial Controller

Job Summary:

The Financial Controller will lead the Financial and Accounting Department to oversee all financial operations of the hospital, ensuring compliance with Hong Kong financial regulations and healthcare-specific requirements.

This role is critical in managing budgets, financial reporting, and internal controls to support the hospitals mission of delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial acumen, healthcare sector experience, and leadership capabilities to a dynamic and service-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with Hong Kong Financial Reporting Standards (HKFRS)
• Manage the hospitals budgeting and forecasting processes, including departmental budget coordination and variance analysis
• Monitor and control hospital expenditures, ensuring cost-efficiency and alignment with strategic goals
• Oversee billing, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, and general ledger functions
• Ensure compliance with local tax laws, Hospital Authority guidelines (if applicable), and healthcare financial regulations
• Liaise with auditors, regulatory bodies, and external consultants during audits and inspections
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls tailored to a healthcare setting
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to the hospitals executive team to support strategic planning and operational decisions
• Supervise and mentor finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
• Support funding applications, grant reporting, and donor financial reporting where applicable
• Attend and actively participate in regular board meetings includes presenting financial reports and contributing to discussions regarding financial strategies, compliance, and potential risks
• Execute any other responsibilities as designated by the Executive Director

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters degree or MBA is an advantage
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification required
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in financial management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role; healthcare or hospital experience strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of HKFRS, tax regulations, and healthcare financial practices in Hong Kong
• Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or hospital-specific ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Fluent in English and Cantonese, Mandarin is a plus

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience working with the Hospital Authority or private healthcare institutions in Hong Kong
• Familiarity with healthcare funding models, insurance billing, and patient revenue cycles
• Ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative team
