Assistant Educational Development Manager / Technical Officer(Ref. 250617005)
The mission of the Educational Development Centre (EDC) is to elevate the standard of teaching and learning at the University while effectively contributing to the Universitys strategic initiatives in fostering the growth of well-rounded students with exceptional professional competence. EDC provides a diverse range of services aimed at achieving these goals. These services include short courses and workshops focused on enhancing teaching and learning practices, personalised consultations to address individual needs, assistance with assessing student learning outcomes, comprehensive teaching evaluation services and initiatives that encourage and facilitate the integration of educational technologies for an enriched teaching and learning experience across the University.
Duties
The appointee will carry out duties in the fields of Generative AI, technology-enhanced learning and teaching, and system maintenance. He/She will be required to:
(a) develop learning and teaching resources and applications, such as adaptive learning and adaptive testing, leveraging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Generative AI;
(b) assist the development of training activities and promote the educational technologies;
(c) assist the creation of instructional materials and resources to guide academics in effectively utilising technology;
(d) maintain and optimise systems through regular updates, troubleshooting and performance analysis;
(e) monitor system usage to identify improvement and recommend enhancements; and
(f) perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Educational Development or her delegates.
Applicants applying for the Assistant Educational Development Manager position will focus primarily on duties (a) to (c), while those applying for Technical Officer position will concentrate on duties (a), (d) and (e).
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree in Education, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics or a related discipline, with at least five years of relevant work experience;
(b) have knowledge of and experience in AI framework such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch or similar;
(c) have experience in web application development;
(d) be familiar with using IT collaboration tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket;
(e) have experience in providing technical advice in training activities or creating instructional materials;
(f) be familiar with system administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of educational technology platforms and tools; and
(g) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
Preference will be given to those with knowledge of pedagogical best practices, emerging trends in technology-enhanced teaching and learning, as well as systems programming.

Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
