In a newly created headcount, for an Associate in Trade Finance Operations, join a leading international bank to be responsible for Document Checking of export letters of credit, guarantees, collections and risk participation. This role is ideal for an experienced CDCS‑qualified trade professional who enjoys hands‑on LC document checking, end‑to‑end processing and working to high control and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Handle end‑to‑end processing of trade finance transactions (import/export LCs, guarantees, collections, risk participation), ensuring full compliance with ICC rules and internal policies.
Perform independent, detailed checking of documents presented under letters of credit and collections, resolve discrepancies with clients and counterparties, and ensure transactions fall within approved credit lines.
Review customer applications and supporting documents, dispatch funding requests, check repayment advices and follow up on overdue import/export bills to ensure accurate and timely processing.
Maintain strong records and filing of applications and supporting documentation, support internal/external audit and regulatory reviews, and liaise with Head Office on trade finance matters as required.
Deliver trade finance services in line with agreed SLAs, build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, and contribute to process consistency, risk control and operational efficiency.
Provide back‑up support to Treasury Operations when needed (e.g. fixed deposit placements/rollovers/maturities) and support risk, compliance and operational risk frameworks (AML, sanctions, RCSA, KRI and incident reporting).
Requirements
University degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline.
Minimum 8 years’ relevant experience in trade finance operations with strong LC document checking exposure.
CDCS certification, with solid technical and practical knowledge of UCP, ISP, URR, URC, URDG, Incoterms and related ICC rules.
Good understanding of trade finance products and systems (including screening tools such as WorldCheck), with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of local language(s) is desirable.
Strong risk and control mindset, able to work independently under pressure while maintaining high standards of accuracy, data protection and confidentiality.
