Head of Finance - Japan based

The role

PLEASE READ: This role will be based in in Japan, and working visa will be sponsored to the selected candidate.

An exciting opportunity is now available for candidates who speaks Japanese and is willing to work in Japan. This is a newly created position and you will be reporting to the CEO directly on all accounting and finance matters related to the business.

Our client is a property developer who owns businesses across Asia, and right now their hospitality, tourism and entertainment business in Japan is looking for a Head of Finance, and we want to hire a true finance business partner for this role. 

The key gist of your role is to:

Support the CEO to turnaround and transform an outstanding business of about 700 headcounts. As a regional business in Asia, we are looking for a good Head of Finance, a finance leader, you need to re-establish the finance team, as there is currently an existing team of accountants and finance professionals on the ground in need of a great leader.

You need to be: 

• Based in Japan
• Able to converse in English, Japanese (JLPT N1 and N2 or business professional will be good) and very advantageous for the candidate to be able to speak Chinese/Cantonese
• Finance/accounting professionals who has meaningful 12-20 years of working experience in solving finance/operations problems, touched on new system implementation/migration (not a must), managing and improving business internal controls
• For candidates with lesser experience, and you command good Japanese language, we love to hear from you too, we will consider lower-level position within the team (Finance Manager / Assistant Finance Manager / Senior Accountant)
• Get on the ground, be willing to get hands-on with the accounting & finance work.
• Finance business partnering, you are expected to be a trusted business partner to the CEO and senior leaders
• A finance professional with experience running operations will be good experience, ex-auditor will have strong advantage too
• A Coach and Mentor to the team, have patience and willing to guide and build a team, possibly from scratch
• Industry background preferred: Hospitality, Hotels, Travels, Property Developing or Town Developing, Entertainment and similar industries.
• Foreign candidates will be sponsored working visa, local Japanese candidates or returnees will be considered too - Relocation is needed, no remote working
