What this job involves
Rack and Stack
Physically install and mount servers, network devices, and related hardware into racks, ensuring proper power and network connectivity through cabling and cable management practices
Maintain accurate records of all installations, including equipment inventory, rack layouts, and cable connections, while also adhering to data center protocols for decommissioning equipment and maintaining a clean and organized environment
Cable Patching and Troubleshooting
Install, terminate and manage data and power cables, ensuring organized and efficient patching
Diagnose and resolve cable-related connectivity issues, utilizing testing equipment to identify faults and restore network functionality promptly
Change Control
Review and assess change requests, develop detailed implementation plans, and identify potential risks to minimize impact on data centre operations
Implement approved changes according to plan, document all activities, and closely monitor system performance to ensure stability and identify and issues
Conduct post-implementation review, close out change request, and continuously improve change management processes to enhance efficiency and compliance
Incident Management
Rapidly respond to and resolve incidents impacting data centre in and services, aiming to minimize downtime and restore normal operations as quickly as possible
Utilize ServiceNow to manage incidents, problems, changes, and service requests related to data centre infrastructure and services, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption

Desired experience and technical skills
Required
Proven experience in data centre operations, with specific experience in rack and stack, cabling, change control and incident management
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
