The AFS Intercultural Exchanges

AFS Intercultural Exchanges, the Hong Kong office of an international non-profit NGO AFS Intercultural Programs, was founded in 1982. We provide intercultural learning opportunities for secondary school students, including overseas exchange programs, local hosting programs, and a series of local activities. More than 4,000 local secondary students from 130 schools in Hong Kong have participated in our programs.

To meet the growing needs in the Global Citizenship Education (GCE), we are running a series of programs for youths to acquire global citizenship knowledge and skills through actions and competitions. We are looking for energetic and engaging individuals with a genuine interest in social change, education and the empowerment of young people. Responsibilities:

  • Deliver classes, workshops and project learning sessions in English/Chinese in local secondary schools

  • Engage with the Project-in-charge to collect feedback and influence the training program future

  • Contribute to the curriculum review cycles

  • Attend training sessions on AFS Qualified Trainer Certification Program online

  • Accommodate flexible workshop schedules such as late afternoons and weekends

  • May start as Associate Trainer for those with less relevant experience

Requirements:

  • Have a unique and creative style of delivery, and ability to ‘wow young people, takingthem on a memorable learning journey

  • Have a track record of delivering participatory learning programs to young people

  • Experience in delivering workshop in a face-to-face setting is desirable

  • Have the confidence to use a variety of teaching techniques (e.g. drama, visuals and games)

  • Degree holder, or be a qualified teacher, or with equivalent level of professional experience

  • Fluent in English/Chinese (Cantonese/Mandarin) and with the right to live and work in HK

  • Passion for youth empowerment, social change, and education
