Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor jointly held between the Department of Emergency Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine and the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref.: 532529), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.
The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM) is part of the School of Clinical Medicine with research interests including biomarker discovery, clinical applications and clinical trials. The Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacys focus is improving efficacy and safety of medicines to create real world impact. This post is designed to marry expertise between pharmaceutical science and emergency medicine to address the grand challenges of this age in acute illness and injury. Our current disease focuses are stroke, sepsis and acute kidney injury. We are open to new additions.
We welcome applications from basic or clinical scientists with background in emergency medicine, pharmacogenomics, data science, drug and/or biomarkers discovery, drug use optimisation, preclinical or clinical translation of medicines. We welcome imaginative and interdisciplinary applicants who can move our ambitions forward by pursuing new opportunities for laboratory and clinical research programme.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Pharmacology or a related discipline. They should also demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, outstanding academic leadership, and evidence of international recognition. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Associate Professor or Assistant Professor.
This appointment will be co-hosted by the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy. The appointee will focus on scholarly research. He/She will also undertake teaching duties at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and contribute to service and administration in the Departments and the Faculty.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
