CENTER FOR HOLISTIC TEACHING AND LEARNING

DATA-INFORMED LEARNING AND TEACHING ENHANCEMENT

The Centre is now looking for a competent and devoted team member who can contribute to the effective collection, analysis, and reporting of a large set of data related to learning and teaching. The successful candidate will also be involved in the Centres various endeavours for the enhancement and scholarship of learning and teaching at the University.

Senior Research Assistant (25260021)

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, conduct, and coordinate data collection on various scales and from various sources;
  • Conduct literature research;
  • Organise and analyse data;
  • Write reports, documents, and publications related to research conducted by the project team;
  • Lead and/or support professional development activities related to learning and teaching; 
  • Support the editorial matters related to the academic journal the Centre hosts; and
  • Undertake related administrative duties and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A masters degree in a discipline with sufficient training for quantitative data analysis (e.g., Data Science, Statistics, etc.), with at least three years of work or research experience;
  • Proven track record of handling large datasets, quantitative data collection, analysis, and interpretation;
  • Competence in using Microsoft Power BI and other tools for statistical analysis (e.g., SPSS, JASP, etc.);
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of one of the mainstream programming languages (e.g., Python, R, etc.);
  • An excellent command of English and Chinese;
  • Ideally with research writing and publication experiences;
  • Openness to explore and learn new data collection and analysis approaches;
  • Good team player with good communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills, attentiveness to details, and proactiveness in work;
  • Experience of supporting learning and teaching, preferably in the tertiary context, is a definite advantage; and
  • Experience of working with and guiding junior colleagues is an advantage.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test. 

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of one to two years.  Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
