The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the statutory organisation promoting Hong Kongs external trade, seeks a dynamic, high-caliber and experienced professional to join our Merchandise Trade and Innovation Department. The Departments goal is to help Hong Kong companies diversify markets and develop business opportunities.   

Responsibilities:

• Formulate, plan and execute effective online and offline promotional activities to create new business opportunities for Hong Kong SMEs globally.

• Lead a team to achieve promotional objectives for 10+ key industries through organising Hong Kong Pavilion in major overseas and Mainland trade fairs and outbound business missions as well as new promotional formats.

• Build strategic alliances and relationships with key industry players and multipliers through proactive engagement.

• Coordinate with HKTDCs mainland and overseas branch offices, and collaborate with external parties such as fair organisers, industry institutions, associations, media, agencies, service vendors etc.

• Manage three Advisory Committees including Jewellery, Toys and Watch & Clocks.

• Exercise budgetary control to meet both revenue and expenditure targets and maintain a high cost recovery ratio of the assigned projects.

• Oversee daily operations, including management reporting, departmental budgeting, and administrative and HR-related matters etc. 

Requirements:

• University graduate with at least 10 years of solid managerial experience, preferably with sizable organisations in event management/organisation, public/corporate relations, or sales and marketing.

• Strong understanding of Hong Kong economy and China trade.

• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.

• Mature with superior sales, marketing, and communication skills.

• Strong team leader with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.

• Self-motivated, outgoing, and good in project and people management.

• Innovative and flexible, with the ability to manage multi tasks under time and resource constraints. 

 Remuneration and Benefits:

The successful candidate will be offered a two-year contract with prospects for renewal upon expiry. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus an appropriate contract-end gratuity. Medical benefits and annual leave will be offered.
