Salary: $28,225 per month Entry Requirements: Candidates should: (a) (i) have Level 2 or equivalent [Note (1)] or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) [Note (2)], or equivalent; or (ii) have Level 2 [Note (3)] / Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) [Note (2)], or equivalent; (b) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 [Note (3)] or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; (c) have at least one year of full-time or two years of part-time working experience in civil defence or youth work or in carrying out outdoor activities; and (d) have good command of Cantonese and English. Note: (1) “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in HKDSEE. (2) The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language. (3) For appointment purpose, “Grade E” in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in HKCEE before 2007 is accepted administratively as comparable to “Level 2” in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. Duties : (a) To coordinate recruitment exercises to recruit young people and people of diverse race as CAS members; (b) To organise, coordinate and conduct a wide range of training and events for young people, people of diverse race and the local community, including training on flag-raising, footdrill, emergency preparedness and discipline; (c) To act as an CAS ambassador to the general public and people of different races, and assist in liaising with government departments, non-governmental organisations, local schools, religious organisations and commercial organisations for promoting the programmes of the Public Education Section; (d) To serve as a supervisor, trainer and/or mentor of the youth training activities and assist in preparing training materials; (e) To assist in the promotion of national security and national education; (f) To assist in the coordination of activities and production of promotional publications for the general public, youth and people of different races; (g) To provide day-to-day administrative support, including compilation of statistics and performance indicators in respect of public education activities; and (h) To coordinate the major events and national and civic education activities of the Public Education Section. Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of one year. Renewal of contract will be subject to the service need of CAS and the performance and conduct of the candidate. Successful candidates may be required to join the Civil Aid Service as auxiliary members. Working hours and location will depend on departmental operational needs. Successful candidates may be required to work irregular and extended hours, including evenings, weekends, Sundays, public holidays, and to work outdoor. Fringe Benefits (a) 12 days annual leave and full pay sickness allowance whereas rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity/paternity leave, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. (b) An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon completion of the full contract period with satisfactory performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (“MPF”) Scheme in respect of the candidates appointed, will equal 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
