Duties
The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “MLFF-agent: autonomous discovery of machine-learning force field with large language model”. He/She will be required to:
(a) be the primary computational lead of the project, focusing on Density Functional Theory (DFT) simulations to investigate the interactions between carbon quantum dots and polysulfides;
(b) apply and develop machine learning force fields (MLFFs) to scale up simulations, and model larger and more complex systems;
(c) analyze simulation data to predict material properties, reaction pathways and diffusion mechanisms;
(d) provide critical insights to guide experimental works;
(e) work closely with experimental team; and
(f) contribute to discussions and co-author publications.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have an honours degree in Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry or a related discipline;
(b) have excellent communication skills;
(c) have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment;
(d) be highly motivated; and
(e) have strong interest in computational materials science.
Preference will be given to those with proven experience in DFT calculations (e.g., VASP, Quantum ESPRESSO) and experience in using MLFFs (e.g., MACE, NequIP, or GAP) and scripting languages (Python).

Conditions of Service
The remuneration rate is HK$125 per hour.
