Computer Vision Hardware Research Engineer

• Identify and define optimal AIPC hardware specifications to provide a high-performance, stable computing environment for AI inference and real-time image processing.
• Lead rigorous hardware testing and validation to ensure system reliability, specifically focussing on thermal management, power stability, and LAN/Industrial I/O signal integrity between AIPC and PLC.
• Establish physical hardware connectivity and communication synchronisation protocols to enable the integration of automated inspection software with production line sensors.
• Conduct research into dynamic optical control, developing applications and SDK interfaces to automate steering mirrors and autofocus lenses for advanced optical R&D.
• Investigate hardware-level security and robustness, ensuring research-driven models are deployed on secure hardware-locks via TPM/Fingerprint modules.
• Research and validate signal integrity and electrical isolation for long-term PLC-AIPC interfacing, ensuring that physical communication layers are resilient against industrial electromagnetic interference (EMI) and voltage fluctuations.
• Investigate hardware-level latency optimisation, evaluating the impact of different I/O interface hardware and cable shielding on real-time trigger signals.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
• Proficiency in CAD design and simulation software for mechanical modelling and thermal/optical simulation.
• Strong technical background in PC hardware architecture, industrial networking, and PLC interfacing.
• Proficiency in developing production-grade hardware control applications and automated testing scripts.
• Hands-on experience in electrical hardware-level testing (e.g. thermal testing, signal noise analysis, I/O latency measurement).
• Ability to perform opto-mechanical prototyping and troubleshoot physical system constraints.
