DSHK is looking for a bilingual Special Education Teaching Assistant. It is an entry 職位 that requires a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

Job Duties

• Cultivate strong relationships with students and co-construct respectful and collaborative learning communities.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contemporary teaching and learning theories and practice in a progressive school, child-centred environment.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of special needs students who have behavioural issues, autism, ADHD/ADD, down syndrome and learning disabilities.
• Have a deep knowledge of evidenced-based interventions/strategies such as applied behaviour analysis, social skills training, functional communications training and the use of assistive devices.
• Create lesson plans and be open to modifications.
• Develop, write and ensure the implementation of IEPs.
• Engage students in innovative ways and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students.
• Set learning goals for each student, accurately assess their progress, adjust lessons to their needs and record their evaluations.
• Participate in co-teach/co-plan lesson planning and curriculum development.
• Collaborate with other teachers, school speech/occupational therapists, and L.E.A.D. coordinator to provide an integrated plan for developing the capacities of students.
• Have a deep knowledge of the grade level or department curriculum and keep abreast of current trends and developments in curriculum and assessment.
• Keep abreast of current trends and developments in special education and lead professional development opportunities within the school.

Job Requirements

• Degree in special education is not necessary but experience in working with special needs children is preferred
• High level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of the children
• Ability to build good relationships with children, teachers and parents
• Excellent competency in English and Chinese
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills - team player and able to multi-task
• Candidate must have the right to work in 香港
