Assistant Legal Manager - Compliance, Legal and Compliance Department

Responsibilities:                   

• Instruct and liaise with external counsel on litigation matters and provide accurate and strategic advice to the management and the relevant internal units;

• Draft, review and negotiate a full range of commercial agreements and legal documentation in relation to the banking services and products;

• Provide timely and accurate legal advice to the management and relevant internal units within the bank;

• Review and update the internal policies and procedures from legal perspective to ensure compliance with the latest law and regulation in force;

• Work closely with other internal units including the headquarter and overseas branches to ensure consistency of the banks policies as a whole; and

• Organise and provide training on legal matters to staff and ensure that the bank is informed of any changes in the legal framework.

Requirements:

• Hong Kong qualified lawyer with 1 or 2 years of PQE (newly qualified lawyer will be considered);

• Prior experience in the banking or finance industry or knowledge in banking is highly preferred;

• Experience and knowledge in commercial litigation is essential;

• Possess excellent contract drafting and interpretation skills;

• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Proficiency in Mandarin is a significant advantage)
