Were seeking an experienced photo editor with exceptional visual judgment and advanced proficiency in industry-standard editing tools including Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, FTP, and CMS/DAM systems. The position follows a Tuesday to Saturday schedule, with the option to work remotely one day per week.
As a photo editor, youll be responsible for sourcing imagery for the Bloomberg Terminal and Bloombergs homepage, drawing from Bloombergs internal archives, third-party agencies, and web-based content using proprietary tools. Your work will illustrate a broad range of news stories and help elevate Bloombergs visual storytelling. Youll also contribute to photo coverage assignments, edit and produce high-quality visuals, and craft thoughtful, accurate captions.
You thrive in fast-paced environments, have a sharp eye for impactful photography, and stay abreast of global news in business, finance, and politics. You believe strongly in the power of visuals to support exceptional journalism. In this role, youll collaborate with a dynamic team and contribute across nearly every Bloomberg platform, working with speed, accuracy, and editorial precision.
Wed like you to:
Consistently identify strong imagery that enhances breaking news and enterprise journalism
Collaborate closely with editors, reporters, and multimedia teams to support visual coverage strategies
Maintain a forward-looking awareness of photo trends, sources, and tools to improve editorial quality
Exhibit editorial intuition and independence when making quick decisions under deadline pressure
Serve as a cultural steward, ensuring all imagery reflects Bloombergs high standards of integrity and sensitivity
Youll need to have:
At least 5 years of professional photo editing experience for digital platforms, including homepage and website curation
Strong proficiency in sourcing images from newswires and licensing services
In-depth knowledge of image licensing, usage rights, and legal considerations
Ability to swiftly interpret editorial content and pair it with powerful visual assets
Excellent sense of taste and editorial propriety with a strong awareness of cultural sensitivities
Strong English written and verbal communication skills, especially in writing and editing captions
Ability to thrive under pressure in a global newsroom and meet tight deadlines
Fluency with Slack for team communication and collaboration
A hands-on mentality and readiness to jump in and solve problems quickly
A strategic mindset with an eye toward evolving workflows and visual storytelling formats
Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
Wed love to see:
Experience with Premiere Pro or Final Cut, Adobe Illustrator and familiarity with audio editing
Background in graphic/web design, including HTML/CSS
