Data Scientist - Global Investment Management Firm - 香港

Our client, a global investment management firm, is actively seeking a Data Scientist with expertise in utilizing cloud technologies and advanced analytics to extract events from unstructured text data. This role requires developing data-driven insights and investment strategies through the application of cutting‑edge Natural Language Processing (NLP) and cloud‑native technologies.

The role
  • Create, implement, and sustain NLP pipelines to identify investment‑relevant events and signals from extensive unstructured text sources, including news articles, regulatory filings, and reports.
  • Design and execute robust data models and analytical frameworks that support both quantitative and qualitative investment research.
  • Leverage AWS (Amazon Web Services) for scalable data storage, processing, and workflow orchestration.
  • Collaborate with investment analysts and other data experts to establish event taxonomies and ensure extraction aligns with business requirements.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and feature engineering to improve predictive modeling and alpha generation.
  • Maintain high standards for code quality, reproducibility, and data integrity throughout the development process.
  • Clearly communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
What you offer
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in data science.
  • Proficient in extracting events from text data using NLP techniques (both rule‑based and machine learning).
  • Strong skills in modeling and analysis, with expertise in supervised and unsupervised learning methods.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python and a solid command of SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and pipeline integration.
  • Proven experience with AWS or other leading cloud platforms in data engineering or advanced analytics settings.
  • Excellent communication skills for delivering technical insights to diverse teams.
  • A history of working with large datasets and deploying data products in scalable production settings.
